Unlimited 5G data is now tied to specific prepaid plans, and the cheapest qualifying plan isn't always obvious. Here's how Jio, Airtel and Vi compare this month. Telecom prices change often, so confirm in your operator's app before recharging.
Jio
| Plan | Validity | Daily data | Cost per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹198 | 14 days | 2GB | about ₹14.1 |
| ₹349 | 28 days | 2GB | about ₹12.5 |
| ₹399 | 28 days | 2.5GB | about ₹14.3 |
Jio also sells small add-on packs (₹51, ₹101) that unlock unlimited 5G on top of a lower plan, using the validity of your existing plan.
Airtel
| Plan | Validity | Daily data | Cost per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹349 | 28 days | 1.5GB | about ₹12.5 |
| ₹379 | 30 days | 2GB | about ₹12.6 |
| ₹399 | 28 days | 2.5GB | about ₹14.3 |
Vi
Vi lists unlimited 5G on plans such as ₹349 (28 days, 1.5GB/day) and ₹379 (30 days, 2GB/day). Its long-validity ₹1,749 plan (180 days, 1.5GB/day) works out to under ₹10 a day if you can pay upfront. The bigger question with Vi is coverage: its 5G network is far smaller than Jio's and Airtel's, so check whether 5G is available where you live and work.
Which is the best value?
- Lowest monthly cost: Jio ₹349 and Airtel ₹349/₹379 are effectively tied at about ₹12.5 a day.
- More days for the money: Airtel ₹379 gives 30 days instead of 28 — that's one extra recharge saved every year.
- Short-term: Jio's ₹198 14-day plan is handy if you're unsure or travelling.
- Annual savers: long-validity plans cut the per-day cost the most, if your budget allows.
Tips before you recharge
- Make sure 5G is switched on: Settings → Mobile network → Preferred network type → 5G.
- "Unlimited" 5G usually falls back to 4G daily data when you're outside 5G coverage.
- Recharge only through the official app or trusted UPI apps. Ignore "cheap recharge" offers on WhatsApp.
